Sometimes, a glamorous career conceals many of the most tragic stories. Lolo Jones, who took home the USA and the World Champion in the event of a hurdle in 2013, only achieved this feat through a great deal of hard work and a lot of patience. Jones was the sole child in a family of five who lived in extreme poverty. Her mom lived in the road and even in the cellar of a church in the area at one point. Jones had in a mobile and nomadic lifestyle from the moment she started the high school system, was required to transfer to a brand new school every year. At Theodore Roosevelt High School Jones was separated from her mother to pursue her interest in track events. Jones lived in four different houses during her highschool time to pursue her education in one place. Jones was awarded the Gatorade Iowa Track & Field Athlete of the Year award during her time at school. She also was involved in the school orchestra as cellist. Jones was one of the top hurdlers when she first entered the college. In 2002, at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Jones won the 100 meter hurdles. Also, she participated on the team that finished second in the 100-meter relay. Jones won the NCAA Indoor Hurdles event in the years 2003 as well as in 2004. The track career after she completed her studies in 2005, Jones started to train hard to pursue an athletic career in track. She was the winner of both her events, the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track competitions that same year.

Brandt born within Cape Town South Africa with her parents and siblings immigrated to Auckland New Zealand when she was in her late teens. Brandt, identified by local casting agencies and was cast in the part of Naevia in the Starz blockbusters Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. Produced by Steven S. Lesley Brandt along with the remainder of her family moved from the United States to Auckland New Zealand, in 1999. After a few years of being employed in the retail industry, she was promoted to the position of an IT consultant. Lesley's career began with a handful of modeling projects. She then appeared in numerous commercials. She earned her degree with a specialization in acting in the year 2008. In 2009 she began training in Meisner Methods of Study. The first time she was seen in New Zealand was as a TV actor on Diplomatic Immunity. Lesley Brandt appeared in the New Zealand drama Shortland Street as a supporting visitor role. In a later sci-fi arrangement This Is Not My Life she portrayed the city of Waimoana. Lesley Brandt played Naevia in the television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. She later portrayed the character in the Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
